What does “Research Use Only” (RUO) mean?
What Research Use Only communicates and why it must be separated from medicines, supplements and human use.
RUO is a declared research destination
Research Use Only describes the intended research context of a material. It is not a medical approval and does not by itself demonstrate identity, purity, sterility or safety.
Communication must remain consistent
A material presented as RUO should not be accompanied by self-administration instructions, personal dosing guidance or treatment promises. Content should remain anchored in laboratory work, documentation and research.
RUO does not replace quality control
Molecular identity, purity, quantity, traceability and, where relevant, microbiological quality are separate questions. A purity percentage does not automatically answer the others.
